Shiro Cosmetics recently announced that they would be making custom lipglosses – basically, you pick a lip-safe colour from their eyeshadow range, and Caitlin from Shiro Cosmetic whips it up into a lipgloss!
Naturally, this excited me because their eyeshadows are amazing – my next scheduled review after this one will be on their eyeshadows – so I ordered 7 different shades.

My 7 lipglosses came with three samples – Chimera, Lingered in Twilight, and King Under the Mountain. I also purchased Shiro’s Three Year Birthday shade – Nestyr.

Alkahestry: “Sheer-ish pale violet with a brilliant blue-sparkle base”
Din’s Fire: “Delicate cool-toned purple-pink with bright red sparks”
Equivalent Exchange: “Dark, slightly grey blue-toned purple with a sprinkling of brighter purple sparks”
Eye Contact: “Vivid magenta”
Team Rocket: “Vivid opaque bright purple with shimmery blue undertones”
Now, this was the shade I was looking forward to the most, because I love purple lipsticks and glosses. Sadly, this was really patchy and difficult to work with. I only took one photo of the lip swatch because it just looked horrible :/ Maybe it needs to be worn over primer or foundation, but on bare lips, it really just doesn’t work well.
Unforgettable: “Hot pink-toned shimmery red with bright red sparks”
Wildflowers: “Soft golden pink with green and gold sparks”
Now, in regards to packaging – when I opened my package, all of the items inside the envelope were covered in sticky lipgloss. Even after cleaning everything up, most of the colours seemed to leak out of the sides, as above. I really would have liked to see these come in tubes or something similar. I have purchased empty lipgloss tubes with doe foot wand applicators and empty plastic syringes to transfer the gloss into the plastic tubes.
Caitlin from Shiro Cosmetics made a post on Facebook in regards to this issue – you can find it here. Basically, she is offering a partial credit for any inconvenience caused by the packaging. I really appreciate customer service like this, so I’m not too upset about having to purchase empty lipgloss tubes to decant them into!
The formula is thick, but without being gloopy. The colours are highly pigmented and you only need a tiny bit on your brush/finger/cotton tip/application tool to get good coverage.
